The new genre of AI-forecasting whitepapers — AI 2027 chief among them — reads less like policy analysis and more like fanfiction, complete with lore, canon disputes, and self-insert protagonists. Some of these documents now publish versions of themselves explicitly optimized “for AI agents & crawlers.”

The essay names the audience this implies — a second reader alongside the human one — and diagnoses the genre as a mild case of hyperstition: no one builds a door for a guest they’re not expecting.
